Apparently, It’s Fall Now

Apparently, It’s Fall Now

I don’t know exactly when fall officially begins in my house, but I can tell you it has absolutely nothing to do with the calendar.

It begins when I pull out one pumpkin.

Then another.

Then somehow there are seventeen pumpkins on the table, an orange table runner has appeared, I’m rearranging fake flowers like I have strong opinions about floral design, and I’ve convinced myself the house needs to smell like something delicious immediately.

So… apparently, it’s fall now.

And I am not mad about it.

There is just something about this time of year that makes me want to make the house extra cozy. Maybe it’s the colors. Maybe it’s the promise of cooler weather. Maybe I’m just looking for an excuse to buy another tiny ceramic pumpkin with a face.

Honestly, all three can be true.

This little setup has been making me ridiculously happy lately. The flowers. The pumpkins. The tiny pumpkin creatures standing guard. And right in the middle of everything is Sugared Pistachio from Story Wick Co.

Which, yes, I made.

And yes, I still get excited seeing one of my own candles sitting in my home.

There’s something slightly surreal about making a candle, pouring it, labeling it, waiting patiently for it to cure when you REALLY want to light it already…and then finally seeing it become part of your everyday life.

I Take Cozy Very Seriously

Not serious-serious.

I’m not going to come inspect your throw blanket situation.

But I do believe there is something wonderful about making ordinary days feel a little special.

Light the candle while you clean the kitchen.

Make the fancy coffee on a random Wednesday.

Put out the decorations even if nobody is coming over.

Buy the weird little pumpkin figurine.

Actually use the things you’ve been “saving.”

Life is happening right now. We might as well make it smell good.

That’s really what I want Story Wick Co. to be about.

Of course I want to make candles that smell amazing. But more than that, I want them to become part of your life—the background scent to whatever little story is happening in your house that day.

Maybe you’re curled up with a book.

Maybe you’re having friends over.

Maybe you’re cooking dinner.

Maybe you’re hiding in the living room eating something you don’t want to share.

No judgment. Light the candle.

And About Sugared Pistachio…

Can we appreciate her for a second?

She’s sweet, cozy, a little nutty, and sitting in that cream pumpkin vessel looking like she was born for fall.

And somehow she has managed to blend right into my autumn decorations while also making me want dessert.

Which feels like an accomplishment.

This is one of my favorite things about fragrance: it becomes part of the atmosphere without asking for much.

You light a candle, go about your evening, and suddenly the whole room feels different.

Warmer.

Cozy.

A little more special.

And occasionally you walk back into the room and think, Wait…what smells so good?

Then you remember.

Oh yeah.

I made that.

Still not over it.

So Here’s to Fall

Here’s to pumpkins everywhere.

Here’s to decorating way earlier than necessary because it makes us happy.

Here’s to books we swear we’re only going to read “one more chapter” of.

Here’s to coffee, blankets, cooler evenings, tiny ceramic creatures, and homes that smell ridiculously good.

And here’s to the ordinary little moments that eventually become the stories we remember.

That’s what Story Wick Co. is really about.

Candles for the stories you’re living right now.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think this table could use another pumpkin.

Probably.
